Smart preparation plan (ClearLLB approach)

Once you enroll in the ClearLLB AIBE preparation crash course, we strongly recommend that you do the following:

1) Map the syllabus to weekly goals. Start with high-weight, high-yield subjects (Constitution, Ethics/BCI rules, Evidence, Procedure codes).
2) Build concept notes. Keep one-page briefs per Act/topic with sections, must-know doctrines, and recent statutory changes (BNS/BNSS/BSA updates).
3) Practise by clusters. Attempt mixed-topic MCQs so you learn to switch contexts quickly.
4) Revisit Professional Ethics. Questions here are concept-driven and often decisive.
5) Simulate exam conditions. Take full-length mocks; review mistakes immediately.
6) Final 7-day sprint. Revise bare acts’ structure, landmark principles, and frequently tested sections.

More about AIBE

The All India Bar Examination (AIBE) was considered and approved by the Bar Council of India at its meeting held on 30th April 2010. It was decided by the Council that the examination shall be mandatory for all law students graduating from the academic year 2009-2010 onwards.

Such candidates may apply to appear in the examination only after enrolling as advocates under Section 24 of the Advocates Act, 1961.

Later, BCI allowed final year LLB students to also appear for AIBE.

The AIBE examination is intended to improve the standard of the legal profession. Therefore, the AIBE examination is not relevant for those who are not interested to enter into the legal profession.

Even if someone says, “I don’t plan to practice law,” they still must enrol with their State Bar Council to be allowed to take the AIBE.
Not wanting to practice doesn’t give them an exemption from the mandatory Bar enrolment. For example, Riya has an LL.B. and wants to take AIBE “just for the certificate,” not to practice. She must first enroll with her State Bar Council; she can’t skip that step.

Therefore, those candidates who are not interested in practising the law cannot be exempted from obtaining enrolment before the State Bar Council for appearing in the AIBE. The candidate will be awarded a certificate of practice after clearing the examination and is eligible to practice in any court in India.

All India Bar Examination is a certification exam conducted twice a year by the Bar Council of India for law graduates willing to start the practice of the profession as lawyers. The exam is conducted in 50 cities having 140 centres as an open-book exam. The exam is conducted in national and regional languages.

The exam is conducted to assess basic level knowledge of a member and lay down a minimum benchmark for entering into the practice of law, in addition to assessing the candidate’s analytical skills.

The exam is in a multiple-choice model and conducted offline over a three-and-a-half-hour duration.

All India Bar Examination is a post-enrolment examination where persons are initially said to be provisionally enrolled on an undertaking that they will pass the exam within 2 years of said enrolment. The concept of provisional enrolment and the undertaking were brought in through the BCI Resolution dated 12.04.2013. However, as a result of BCI Resolution dated 31.01.2017, it has been clarified that while the right to practice would only be for two years under a provisional enrolment, the said person can continue to take the Bar Examination as many times as possible. The result, therefore, is that any person who is provisionally enrolled is allowed to practice for two years, but is allowed to take the exam not just for two years but for any number of times till they pass the exam, while the date of reckoning seniority is from the date of the provisional enrolment.

After clearing the All India Bar Examination, the candidate is awarded a certificate of practice by the Bar Council of India.

A qualified member in the exam can attend court hearings in any tribunal court and administrative bodies.
